I was so desperate to play it that I even requested it for several years as a Christmas present: A copy of Sly 2….for Gamecube….yeah that’s how I learned Santa Claus wasn’t real. It was all over TV and there was just something about it that made me really want to play it. I still remember when this game came out. Becoming one of the best selling games on the PS2 and the best selling game in the Sly Cooper series. The result was Sly 2: Band of Thieves, which upon its release received high praise from fans and critics and sold even higher numbers. This time with a bigger budget and more corporate backing. As such, Sly Cooper was deemed a hit by the company and Sucker Punch was asked to produce a sequel. Though Sly Cooper sold far fewer copies compared to Jak & Daxtar or Ratchet & Clank, the game’s far smaller budget meant that Sony made a pretty good profit on the game.
